Peter Mwelelo
Managing Partner
Peter Mwelelo is the Managing Partner and a leading corporate and commercial and labour laws practitioner in Tanzania. He heads the Firm and advises commercial banks, corporate as well as government entities. Peter practices corporate and commercial law as well as immigration laws. He also possesses considerable expertise in litigations and has acted for clients in high-level disputes.
Peter specializes in energy, natural resources and oil and gas. His work involves a broad range of corporate and commercial advisory services in oil and gas focusing on negotiating and structuring energy, oil and gas agreements, advising on contractual risk management amongst various contracting parties, acquisition and disposal of upstream and downstream oil and gas interests, dispute resolution, renewable energy, and advising on legal and regulatory compliance on all energy related transactions. He also possesses expertise in environmental and health and safety laws for corporate and individual entities in the energy and minerals, industrial and construction sector.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Tumaini, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (PGDLP) from the Law School of Tanzania and a Masters of Laws in Corporate and Commercial Law (LL.M) from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is a member of the Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) and the East African Law Society (EALS).
Ally Hamza
Senior Associate
Ally Hamza is the Firm's partner responsible for the supervision of all client matters working alongside the Managing Partner. He is a specialist in Tax Law, Projects and Infrastructure, Corporate and Commercial Law, New Companies Registration, Conveyancing, Civil and Commercial Litigation, Immigration Law and Intellectual Property Law.
Ally provides legal advice on a range of tax issues with respect to Income Tax (Corporate Taxation), Value Added Tax, Withholding Tax, Customs Tax, Planning and Compliance, Transfer Pricing and International Taxation. He also acts in tax disputes and has represented various corporate clients in high-value tax mandates.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Dar es Salaam, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (PGDLP) from the Law School of Tanzania and a Masters of Law in Taxation from the University of Dar Es Salaam. Ally is also a member of the Tanganyika Law Society (TLS).
Pendo Joseph
Senior Associate
Pendon specializes in Real Estate and Conveyancing; Trust and Wealth Management; Labour, Employment and Immigration; and Specialised Litigation.
Throughout the years Ms. Pendo has advised clients on a variety of matters including project finance, syndicated loans, joint ventures, corporate re-structuring, insurance law, investment services, trusts and foundations. She has acted for vendors and purchasers on the acquisition and disposal of assets, including undertaking detailed due diligence and drafting and negotiating agreements.
Salum Kessy
Associate
Salum specializes in Mining, Energy and Utilities law; Commercial and Contract Law; Investments, Corporate and Regulatory Compliance and specialized litigation.
Mr. Salum advises our corporate clients on matters ranging from corporate governance, compliance, management, and regulatory compliance. He is a diligent writer who assists clients in drafting and reviewing corporate agreements. His specialization in Oil and Gas law enables him to advise Clients in the Oil and Gas industry and value chain on local content requirements and regulatory compliances, among others.

Billing by advocates in Tanzania is governed by the Advocates Act and the Advocates’ (Remuneration and Taxation Costs) Rules promulgated thereunder.
